A reflection on the liberation struggle of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) communities in Namibia, spearheaded by The Rainbow Project. This documentary tracks the evolution of the gay rights movement in Namibia and chronics the activities and voices of sexual minorities as well as proponents of the gay rights movement. Birth of Liberation is a frank and earnest view of the grassroots gay community and their search for identity and self determination in a state sanctioned homophobic environment. The Rainbow Project (trp) promotes full human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people in Namibia through leadership development, public education and institutional and law reform. This film shows how trp is instrumental in creating awareness for a tolerant society in Namibia.
