Teenage pregnancy is one of Namibia’s rampant social challenges, addressed by this poignant short feature. Based on the hit play, “5 Minutes of pleasure” was written by young people and based on true stories. The film follows the lives of four teenagers living in Windhoek, highlighting their need for love and their quest for a better life. But while one of the young fathers, Anthony, discovers his love for his off-spring and does everything in his power to be a role model, his relationship with the mother, Tanya, becomes increasingly untenable. In the mean time 16-year old Samantha discovers she is pregnant. In her desperation she pins all her hopes on her friend Rebecca, who, however, has her very own secret… Director Phillip Talavera is no newcomer to thorny social topics, having made his mark with “Love Can Cry”, “The Hostel Monologues” and “Standing Together”.
