A promising debut feature by Namibian director Errol Geingob, Tate Penda is not only a honest but also hilarious portrait of life in Namibia's rural North.

Starring Michael Petrus in the lead role, this thrilling comedy is a story of love, greed, trickery and happiness, where Tate Penda does everything in his powers to prevent his daughter Ndeyapo (Iyaloo Shipatuleni) from seeing her Damara boyfriend Axab (Rodney Haraeb), including recruiting some unconventional help from the paranormal.

Replete with mistaken identities, fisticuffs and unbending traditional customs, Tate Penda is a comedy of the classic genre with an accurate depiction of Namibia's rural life, leaving the viewer ultimately to question the age-old institution of whether parents should be allowed to decide whom their children should marry.
