This enthralling comedy by enigmatic director Lars von Trier uses the unconventional DOGMA genre (also Nicole Kidman in Dogville) as its narrative platform. The real owner of an IT firm hides behind a fictional, non-existent company president to avoid having to own up responsibility when unpopular steps need taking.
When a cranky Icelander (Fridrik Thor Fridriksson) is interested in buying the company, insisting on negotiating "face to face" with the "Boss", the owner takes on a failed actor (Jens Albinus) to play the part. The actor suddenly discovers he is a pawn in a game which goes on to sorely test his lack of moral fibre. |
